For the strawberry-basil syrup: In a blender, puree the strawberries and 1/3 cup water until completely smooth, about ⏱️ 30 seconds. Press the puree through a fine-mesh strainer into a small saucepan; discard the solids.

Add the sugar and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved, about ⏱️ 2 minutes.

Turn off the heat, add the basil, cover, and let the mixture steep ⏱️ 10 minutes. Strain the mixture into a heatproof bowl, then let cool to room temperature, about ⏱️ 1 hour. Refrigerate until ready to use.

For the tea: Meanwhile, place the hibiscus tea bag in a liquid measuring cup and pour the boiling water over the top. Let steep for ⏱️ 7 minutes, then discard the tea bag. Cool to room temperature, about ⏱️ 30 minutes. Refrigerate until ready to use.

For the mocktail: Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add 6 ounces (3/4 cup) of the strawberry-basil syrup, 4 ounces (1/2 cup) of the hibiscus tea, the lemon juice, and balsamic vinegar. Cover and shake vigorously until very cold, 15 to ⏱️ 20 seconds. Strain into 2 chilled coupe glasses. Top each drink with a basil leaf.
