📝 Preparation Steps
1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a rimmed 10x15 jelly roll pan with aluminum foil, then coat with nonstick spray.
2
Place saltine crackers on the pan in a single layer.
3
In a small saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar over medium heat until butter is melted; bring to a boil. When it begins to bubble, cook for ⏱️ 3 minutes while stirring the entire time. (Mixture might be foamy and should be a deep caramel color.)
butter (cut into cubes (see note))1 cupbrown sugar1 cup
4
Immediately (but gently) pour over saltines and spread to cover crackers completely. (Work quickly, the caramel hardens fast.)
5
Transfer to the oven and bake for about ⏱️ 7-8 minutes.
6
Remove from the oven and sprinkle mini chocolate chips evenly over the top.
7
Let sit a couple of minutes to melt. (If your pan isn't hot enough you can return it to the oven for a minute.)
8
Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the surface and before it sets, sprinkle with the chopped pecans (or toppings of your choice.)
9
Let stand until nearly set and then transfer to the fridge to chill until firm, at least ⏱️ 2 hours.
10
Break into pieces and try not to eat the entire pan by yourself!
