Preheat oven to 350 degrees F; then place the sausage on a baking sheet and bake for ⏱️ 30 minutes; turning once. Remove from oven and slice into 1/4" thick slices.

Cook pasta according to package instructions; drain and place back in the pot.

While the pasta is cooking, add the oil to a large nonstick saute pan over medium heat.

Add the garlic and onions and saute for ⏱️ 1 minute; then add the basil and tomatoes and sausage slices. Saute for approximately ⏱️ 5 minutes until the sausage is browned on both sides, then add the red wine and allow to simmer for another ⏱️ 5 minutes until the wine is reduced.

Add this mixture to the cooked pasta, add the cheese and mix well.
