Peel the banana, place half of it in a bowl and mash until soft. Place the other half to one side, this will be used as a topping.

Spoon the mashed banana into a saucepan with the remaining ingredients, stir well and cook on a medium heat for about five minutes, until the oats soften. Add a splash more milk as you go if needed.

Slice the rest of the banana on top to serve, along with a splash of maple (if using).
