📝 Preparation Steps
1
If you're making the cake, prepare according to instructions and allow to cool. (You can make this the day before; then keep covered tightly in the refrigerator until you're ready to make the cake balls).
2
Make frosting by adding butter, confectioners sugar, milk and vanilla extract to a large bowl; then mix until combined with a hand or stand mixer.

3
Crumble the cake in the bowl over the frosting and combine using a mixer on low speed until all ingredients have been incorporated.
4
Next, form the dough into balls approximately one tablespoon in size and put the balls on a sheet pan that's lined with parchment paper.
5
Add the white candy melts to a microwave safe bowl and heat in ⏱️ 30 second increments until melted. (If the chocolate is too thick, you can add a small amount of milk to thin it out. You can also use white chocolate bars or chips).
milk3 teaspoons
6
Put a ball of cake in the melted white chocolate rolling it around the bowl to coat it evenly. Transfer the coated ball back to the pan covered with parchment paper and allow the chocolate to dry. (To speed up the process you can also place the pan in the refrigerator until the chocolate has fully set).
7
Melt about a half cup each of the blue and red candy melts in the microwave in separate bowls in ⏱️ 30 second increments. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the top of the dried cake balls; then top with sprinkles and candy stars. (You can use this fun Wilton Red, White and Blue Candy Bark Set for Patriotic Treats found on Amazon or any other festive sprinkles you can purchase locally).
