Pour the cider into a large pot and set over medium-high heat. Add the apple, orange peel and cinnamon sticks. Add the sugar and stir it around to dissolve. Bring to a low boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for ⏱️ 45 minutes to ⏱️ 1 hour.

Add the bourbon and simmer for another 10 to ⏱️ 15 minutes. Ladle into mugs and serve warm.
