Butter a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Combine the sugar, evaporated milk, salt, marshmallows, and margarine in a saucepan over medium heat and boil for ⏱️ 5 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat, add the cherry chips and vanilla, and stir.
