Halloween Spider Cookies
These Halloween spider cookies are great fun to make at home and taste delicious. The cookies are golden and crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy in the middle. We love to use our nut butter balls to make the spiders but you can easily use anything you've got at home instead.

📝 Preparation Steps
1
Preheat the oven to 180C (355F), fan setting. Line two baking trays with baking parchment.
2
Place the ground almonds, baking powder, plain flour and a pinch of sea salt into a bowl and mix until there are no lumps.
ground almonds3.5 ozbaking powder2 teaspoonsplain flour3.7 ozsea salt1 pinch
3
Add the nut butter and maple syrup, and mix until a smooth batter forms.
4
Scoop one heaped tablespoon of the cookie dough mixture out of the bowl and roll it into a ball using your hands. Repeat this process until you have 12 equal sized cookie dough balls.
5
Place the balls onto the lined baking trays and squish down a little to form a cookie shape.
6
Bake for ⏱️ 10-12 minutes until golden but still a little soft.
7
Once cooked, remove from the oven and leave to cool. As these cookies cool down, they will continue to harden.
8
In a small pan over a medium heat, mix together the date syrup, cacao powder and coconut oil. Cook for a few minutes until the mixture comes together to create a smooth liquid.
9
Once smooth, remove from the heat and leave to cool a little before spooning into a piping bag. Close the end of the piping bag and place in the fridge to set a little - this may take about an hour.
10
Once ready to assemble the cookies; place the cookies onto a plate, well spaced out. Pipe a small dot of the chocolate sauce onto the middle of each cookie.
11
Cut the nut butter balls in half and place one on top of each dot of chocolate sauce. Pipe four lines as legs on each side of the nut butter balls, down the side of the cookies.
