Mix together the miso, tamari, maple syrup, and water in a small bowl. Set aside.

Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, ⏱️ 8-10 minutes. This time allows for the mushrooms to release moisture. Add the miso mixture, and cook, until the mushrooms are coated and glossy, ⏱️ 1-2 minutes. Transfer mushrooms to a small bowl.

Tip the butterbeans into the pan and cook, stirring throughout, until warmed through, ⏱️ 1-2 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl and add the lime juice, a drizzle of olive oil, and a small pinch of salt. Coarsely smash butterbean mixture until well combined.

Pile the smashed butterbeans on top of the toast. Then top with the glazed miso mushrooms and fresh chives. Eat immediately.
