Heat treat the flour by either baking it in the oven at 350°F for about ⏱️ 6 minutes, or in a bowl in the microwave for ⏱️ 1-2 minutes. Be sure to stir it and check it with a thermometer to make sure it reaches 160°F. Let it cool.

Cream together the sugars, butter, vanilla extract and milk really well (⏱️ 2-3 minutes).

Gently break up the flour using the back of a spoon and sift it into the dough mixture (discard any large clumps). Mix it in along with the salt until combined.
