Cook the gnocchi in a large pot of salted boiling water according to the package directions; fresh gnocchi takes only a moment to cook. Drain, but do not rinse.

Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. When the butter begins to bubble, add the heavy cream. Stir until the cream and butter are blended and warm. Add the Parmesan cheese and nutmeg, increase the heat slightly, and stir until the sauce thickens.

Place the gnocchi and cooked, sliced sausage in a 13x9-inch pan. Pour the alfredo sauce on top and bake for 10 to ⏱️ 15 minutes. If desired, you can brown the top by turning the oven to broil; this may only take a moment. Serve immediately.
