Beat mascarpone, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until combined and creamy, 1 to ⏱️ 2 minutes. In a second bowl, beat egg yolks on medium speed until thickened and pale yellow, 3 to ⏱️ 5 minutes. Fold yolks into mascarpone mixture. Whisk heavy cream on high speed with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form, 3 to ⏱️ 5 minutes. Fold into mascarpone mixture.

Stir together coffee and liqueur, if using, in a measuring cup. Dip ladyfingers in coffee mixture, one at a time, and place in the bottom of a 8-by-8-inch baking pan. Top with one-third of the mascarpone mixture; spreading into an even layer. Dust mascarpone with cocoa powder. Repeat layers two more times, ending with cocoa powder. Chill at least ⏱️ 6 hours or up to overnight.
