Preheat the oven to 350˚. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Put the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave, stirring every ⏱️ 15 seconds, until melted. Let cool.

Beat the butter and granulated sugar in a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment on medium-high speed until light and creamy, 3 to ⏱️ 4 minutes.

With the mixer on low speed, slowly drizzle in the cooled chocolate. Scrape down the bowl with a rubber spatula, then continue beating until the chocolate is incorporated. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then beat in the vanilla. Scrape down the bowl and increase the speed to medium; beat until well combined, about ⏱️ 30 seconds.

Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. With the mixer on low speed, gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, beating just until combined after each addition, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed.

Scoop the dough into heaping tablespoon-size balls and arrange 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Bake until puffy and set, 11 to ⏱️ 12 minutes. Let cool ⏱️ 2 minutes on the baking sheet, then remove the cookies to a rack to cool completely. Repeat with the remaining dough. Once cool, sprinkle generously with powdered sugar.
