📝 Preparation Steps
1
Bake cakes and allow them to cool completely.
2
While the cakes are baking and cooling, prepare the frosting.
3
Trim the domes of the cakes (if any) and level them.
4
Frost both the cakes smoothly in caramel icing.
5
Roll out brown fondant and spread it smoothly over both the cakes.
6
Cut off excess fondant around the base with a pizza cutter.
7
Optional step: In a plastic container, mix some brown and white gel colors until you end up with a goldenish brown shade. Now, dip your foam brush in this container.Start moving your hand right and left randomly across your fondant covered cake. Do this as many times as you like. Do some "wisping" on top of the cake too. Just move your foam brush swiftly in a circular motion. The cakes should look like they have streaks of gold. I also used a toothpick to add some texture and dents on the cake to make it look "old."
8
Place the large cake on a serving dish.
9
Insert the pvc pipes, as shown in the picture above. There are 6 pvc pipes. 1 is in the center and it's longer than the rest. The remaining 5 are hidden under each apple so as to prevent them from digging into the cake. The central pvc is glued to the base of the top tier.
10
Place 4 apples on top of the pvc pipes.
11
Then, place the other prepared cake on top of the apples.
12
Insert a pvc pipe in the center.
13
Place an apple on top of the pvc pipe and you are done. Enjoy.
