Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place the sliced apples in a large mixing bowl and sprinkle with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat. Transfer the apples to a greased 10-inch baking dish.

In the same mixing bowl used for the apples, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter and use a fork to mix the butter into the dry ingredients, until little crumbles form. Sprinkle over the apples in the baking dish.
